Showcasing the teddy bear restoration work of Julie Tatchell and Amanda Middleditch otherwise known as ‘the bear ladies’.
Julie and Amanda established their successful business in 2006 and their reputation has grown through their workshops, television appearances on the BBC’s award-winning programme The Repair Shop, and regular radio features where their passion for the work they do can be experienced by others.
At Bear It In Mind, Julie, Amanda and their small team deliver a high standard of workmanship restoring ‘childhood memories’ in the form of teddy bears and other soft bodied toys. Their methods have been developed over many years and include traditional sewing techniques and those used in original manufacturing processes.
Maintaining historical accuracy in their sympathetic restorations is paramount in their approach and every effort is made to adhere to this ideal as closely as possible whilst also taking into account customers’ wishes. The bear ladies are currently developing a series of on-line courses they hope will inspire other like-minded crafters into this area.
Due to overwhelming demand for their services and after much deliberation, it has been decided to temporarily close the books to new customers at Bear It In Mind.
This decision has not been taken lightly, but with full shelves and a waiting list that reaches well into 2020, this is the only way the ladies can continue to provide a quality service for existing customers, while also remaining available for filming commitments and other public appointments.
